My wife and I went to a few ID firms but decided to go with Yong as he was recommended by a friend and we also felt that we could work well together. From conceptualisation, designing, partnering us to make choices on furnishing, material, designs and eventually project delivery, he was very responsive and could offer up solutions to maintain a balance - between keeping the home aesthetically pleasing and also functional. It’s our matrimonial home and first ever experience making a place on our own and Yong did a great job executing and making sure every detail is taken care of. He delivered on the timelines and managed the project extremely well (even offering to do touch-ups on imperfections we picked up after the main renovation phase). We engaged Artmuse after meeting with several other IDs. Yong was the only designer that we felt really paid attention to our needs and the ideas we had. He and Eric were highly professional throughout and their response rate was at 99.999% even late at night. They never dismissed any of our noob questions and were patient when we modified the design a few times. Most importantly they respected our choices while providing us a range of solutions/alternatives. Any problems that arose from the renovation were quickly dealt with, often within 24-48 hours, and they gave frequent updates to reassure us. I felt like they really understood the renovation from the homeowners’ perspective and gave their 101% in making our experience as pleasant and fuss-free as possible. Even after handover, the line of communication was open and they dealt with the defects quickly and responsibly. While we did bust our budget with them, I would say the satisfaction we felt after the job was over, is priceless.

We hired Yong (and his assistant Eric) to overhaul our ageing 30-year-old four-room flat. We removed many of the existing fittings; completely changed the two toilets, the lights, and the electrical wiring and sockets; got new floors and a full paint job. The entire operation was executed in seven weeks, although we met them earlier a couple of times to discuss plans.
Overall, Yong and Eric did an excellent job of renovating our flat. The plans were executed well, and whenever problems or issues arose, they were acted on swiftly, and attempts were made to resolve them. What we appreciated was the excellent communication between Yong and us. Yong kept us frequented updated on the progress of the project, he was at no point uncontactable, and he was always ready to respond to our queries. This ensured a smooth and pleasant renovation journey from start to finish.

After interviewing 8 interior design firms, Artmuse was selected based on a combination of perceived value, alignment of vision and the integrity displayed by Mr. Yong during the selection process. Mr. Yong demonstrated an impressive level of expertise and professionalism throughout the entire renovation process. I like the fact that each part of the design was creative and functional focused. I took a long time to select and shortlist my interior designer. As I was going to be the only one working on the project with the ID, I wanted someone that was reliable, responsible and someone who could work with me. I am lucky to have met Yong in the home Reno journey. It was pretty much a fuss free and worry free renovation and any problems we faced, I knew I could always count on Yong to be there to help resolve the problems or provide the right solution.
Even when the electrical works were outsourced with another vendor and we ran into problems. Yong was also there to provide his advice and support instead of pushing away the responsibility. I am really glad that i chose Artmuse. It might not be like those big company but yong is very experienced and able to provide many suggestions that we love. Most importantly He work towards our budget. My dream home was a lot more than our budget but he still manage to come with another plan that is similar.
I still remember that we will deciding if we should include glass panel for our kitchen due to the hdb tiles. of Cus it is additional income for him but he said that not required which really touches us that he truly think for his customers.
He is very humble and not pushy like any other which make us feel very comfortable. He listens to our views and always offer better advices. He is very prompt in his service and always reply our msg even in late night. He even help us to adjust our dining lights in person.
I read many stories of delayed project and horrible experience with ids but I can truly say that our is really smooth journey with him and he finished on time as what he promised.
Both my husband and i didn't even need to take leave and he handles for us. He updates us so promptly with photos almost everyday as there will updates almost everyday!

In short, our experience with Yong from Artmuse Interior, for our 4 room BTO renovation journey was great, and we will not hesitate to recommend him to our loved ones. His design and execution were very much in line with what we wanted, but what was most commendable was his responsiveness and project management. For more details:
Design
As we had a good initial idea of what we wanted, there is not much that we can say about whether Yong can give very fanciful designs as we never really gave him the opportunity for free reign.
That being said, he listened very intently to what we wanted, and was very forthcoming in giving suggestions to improve on our ideas, as well as cost saving options. He was able to show us quite a few pictures to give us an idea of how such suggestions would turn out.
When it came to the 3D, his take and execution of our ideas was well in line with what we wanted and was a very good baseline for us to build on. We then went through several more rounds of tweaks, some of which were even done after the commencement of renovation works.
During the whole process, Yong helped us to decide on some of our soft furnishings to go with the theme. This was a lifesaver for us 2 accountants, who were focused on practicality and functionality rather than beauty.
Workmanship
As a whole, we were satisfied with the renovation workmanship and carpentry. The materials used feel quite premium to the touch and feel, though we must caveat that we do not have a good depth of industry knowledge. So far so good.
Of course, in every renovation there are bound to be road bumps here and there, but our issues were easily settled with Yong. One of which, we were even given the option on whether we wanted the issue to be made good, or if we wanted to exchange it for a good discount instead.
Project management
Our renovation works were completed within 2 months, amidst a shortage in supply of workers. This was within Yong’s estimated timeline given during inception. He is very prompt to respond on WhatsApp (usually within 30min or less from experience), even during ungodly hours. Our requests on WhatsApp were always addressed within the committed timeframe.
Yong was also very forthcoming in providing updates in the renovation process, which is good for people who like to take the hands-off approach like us.
Pricing
Pricing is within the medium range across the Singapore market. There are definitely cheaper alternatives, but we would gladly pay a slight premium for such services, given the other horror ID stories that have been floating around.
Fixtures wise, you can always get them yourselves, but we opted to go to the recommended shops with Yong to get his opinion. While we may have paid a slight premium on the fixtures, we have no regrets.
To end off, we will be happy to engage Yong again in our next renovation project.
